Metroid Password Checksum Calculator (Release 1)

  About:
  ------

Ever wanted to have Metroid passwords that actually meant something? Well now
  you can.

  Usage:
  ------

Type in whatever you want (allowed chracters are 'a-Z', '0-9', '?', '-' and
' ') then press "Calculate" to get the checksum which is the last two letters
in the password. There are 16 different checksums for each password (well...
not really, but let's keep things simple), just click "Next" to get the next
one. If the password is invalid (i.e. it has two or more starting positions)
  the program will warn you.

You can change the cursor position with the arrow keys or by clicking the
left mouse button on the disired position.

A good idea would be to use this software together with SnowBro's "Metroid
password creator v0.1a" to see what your password actually does.

  NOTE:
  -----

Metroid treats blanks and spaces differently. Blanks are treated as zeros
while spaces are bit more complicated. Sometimes spaces behave like ordinary
dashes but sometimes they also alter the character to left of them. This
means that you can exhange any blank for a zero but you cannot always
exchange a space for a dash. The red lines that appear when you type in a
space indicates that you must actually type in the space at the password
screen of the game rather than leaving it blank (which you must if there
isn't a red line). You can erase a space by pressing the backspace key.
