. WHAT IS EMS? -- EMS stands for Evangelism, Mission, and Spiritual Life. It is a second mile investment program. It allows men to contribute money directly to the General Commission of the United Methodist Men to support its ministry and mission work.
. HOW TO FIND OUT MORE INFORMATION ABOUT EMS - A pamphlet is available that describes the EMS program. If you would like copies of this pamphlet, please contact the UMM General Commission (GCUMM) or our District President.
. HOW TO JOIN EMS - You may join by filling out the application form given in the EMS pamphlet (described above). An application form is given on another page of this web site, and in the Fall 2002 issue of the UMMen Magazine. Send the completed form along with your check to the General Commission.
. COST OF EMS MEMBERSHIP - It costs $30 per year to belong to EMS. When you first join you will receive a membership pin.
. MISSION WORKS THAT EMS MEMBERSHIP SUPPORTS - A few of the mission works that members contributions support are: Society of St. Andrews Hunger Relief Advocate Program, the Upper Room Prayer Ministries, Scouting and Civic Youth organizations, and Hope for Hearing. Part of the money is also used for Administrative expenses and support of conferences and districts.
. BENEFITS TO MEMBERS - Membership in EMS entitles you to receive the following:

. . o Discounts for UMM events such as the fee to attend the UMM Congress at Purdue

It is interesting to note that the Sierra Madre Fellowship, the unit having the largest number of members (15), has a fund drive each year to raise money to pay for their EMS membership fees.
