SYNTHY RAY EDWARDS b: ca 1804 d: Jun 17, 1869. She is buried in the Edwards Cemetery located in NE Callowy Co between Mt Zion and Mt Olive. Several other Edwards are also buried here along with Abner & Evaline Casey. Ruth Casey was a sister-in-law to Synthy Ray Edwards. The relationship of the family of Abner Casey and Hix Jones Ray, Synthy's brother, is unknown but surely related. I don't know where William Edwards is buried.
William Edwards, born ca 1798, NC was one of the early settlers to the Jackson Purchase Area, if he is the same William Edwards that I have found named in Don Simmons publications "Jackson Purchase Pot Pourri Vol 1, 2, and 3". This William Edwards held court in his house ca 1824. I am not sure if they came before or with Hix Jones Ray when he settled this area.
The Calloway County, Ky Will Book B page 48 shows a sale bill of William A Smith Estate...William Edwards bought on broad ax for $4.00, one trunk for .75 and a dish for .87 1/2. Thomas Cochran was also at the sale and bought a book for .37 1/2. The Cochran family married into the Ray family in western Kentucky. I am interested in finding more information on William Edwards.
Another researcher: Cindy Carter Jones, 8 Glenwood, Overland Park, Kansas 66212 is researching this family. According to Cindy - Synthy Ray was born in 1803, Tennessee. There is a deed file in Calloway County, Kentucky dated November 12, 1831 wherein deed land adjacent to Frederick Lynch's property to Wm. B. Lynch.
