MARY JANE COOK (THOMAS S.2, THOMAS1) was born April 22, 1855 in Bedford Co. TN, and died November 1937 in Murray, Ky, Barnett Cemetery. She married (1) NATHAN H. RUSHING, son of JAMES RUSHING and PARTHENIA DOWNS. She married (2) JAMES K. P. FUTRELL January 22, 1873 in Stewart Co. TN, son of WINBORN FUTRELL and SUSAN DOWNS.

Mary Jane Cook, daughter of Thomas and Mary Lynch Cook, married James KP Futrell on 1-22-1873 in Stewart County. James KP Futrell was born in the Laura Furnace vicinity of Trigg County in 1848, to Winborn and Susan Downs Futrell, Susan Downs being the daughter of Benjamin (1790-1853) and Elizabeth Downs (1796-1870). Winborn and Susan Downs Futrell were married 9-21-1847 in Trigg County and settled near the Cumberland River where he furnished firewood for boats traveling the river, as well as his own boats.
The family lived in a log house overlooking the river which was still standing when the TVA moved everyone out of the area, but, restoring the log house, which in later years burned. James KP Futrell and Mary Jane Cook Futrell lived a short distance from his parents' home in their two rooms with side room, tin roofed house and, it was here that as the result of a barn roofing accident that James KP Futrell died in late March, 1884, nine weeks before the birth of his son, William (Will) Futrell. LBL cemetery researcher lists James KP Futrell in Hanes Cemetery, Trigg County, along with his parents and grandprents, no markers. Mary Jane died in Murray, Ky. at the home of her youngest son William (Will) Futrell in November, 1937. She is buried in Barnett Cemetery near Pottertown, Ky, double marker also bearing the name of her second husband, Nathan H Rushing (1845-1899).
