| 31st January - Another Weekend Its really strange, as soon as the weekend hits here, its like everyone gives a big communal sigh of relief. you have to understand that the weekend over hear means doing nothing. The shops are open on Saturday, but on Sunday absolutely everything is closed, with the exception of a few Turkish shops, because, as Konrad was explaining to me, the dont have to follow the same rules, or something. But all the regular shops are forbidden to open on Sunday, which means that you literally cannot do anything on this day, you must spend it with family and not doing too much - lazing around the house and whatever. I think it makes a lot of sense personally, because it means that at least one day a week, people have to spend with their families, seeing friends and relaxing. I think it makes for a much more successful start to the week. But last night was great fun. I only had three classes at school and was finished by about 10:30, and so went and got my student id and some adaptors i needed for all the chargers and things i have. Then i met up with about 10 friends, and we had something to eat which was good, and ended up sitting around talking and stuff for a few hours. I also walked with a mate, Ferdl, to his place because i was talking to him about Ferraris and he told me that i should check out his dads collection, haha, i said, but when i saw that 246 Dino (amongst others!!!) at his place, i was seriously shut down! Max finished school at 1:30 so he joined me downtown and we went shopping. It was incredible, we went and say his dad, who gave him 200, then we went shopping. Im not joking when i say the exact same stuff is half the price in Australia. Sorry, i should clarify, the brand name stuff is twice as much, the other stuff is exceedingly cheap. But Max picked up a pair jeans, a shirt and a jumper, and that was the 200 euros gone, and he didn't blink an eye, it was staggering. You see i would have serious trouble parting with that much moolah over clothes, but maybe i have more adjustment to this Austrian lifestlye than i though! After that, we met up with some friends for a drink, and then we got (another) lunch, and then we went back to the same place for another drink with some other friends, and walked home after that, but it wasn't long before i was out again at a local place, where we spent most of the night. Max went to a hip hop club, so i politely decided to stay where i was. It was great fun though, good night. Leave for Altmnster in the morning, cant wait to go to the language course! I thinks its at the perfect time too, because i am starting to finally get some german under my belt and the course will just cement all that and help me build on it. But having an awesome time, and still lovin it heaps! Paz |
