| 30th June - What a city! part ii The next morning mum wasnt feeling too good, and so dad and i walked up to the castle on the hill, the site that dominates, and looks over Prague. We crossed the Charles' Bridge and then made our way through the little quarter on our way there. It was becoming apparent to me that this is a really special city, it doesnt feel like any other, i felt so comfortable and at ease. I loved it. The castle was not at all what i expected, it is really a small town built around a huge cathedral. Dad and i checked out the cathedral, i made the climb to the top of the spire and checked the view which rocked! Then we went into the catecombs which were great, there were actually a whole heaps of graves that still survive today. We made our way down and mum was feeling better so we went into the square and had some lunch. We made it a rule that we would always take a different route, that way you discover all the little tiny backstreets and places you never think of. Of course, it was only an excuse to go to the Charles' Bridge! haha. That night, Mum had picked out a restaurant to eat at and we made our way there and had a wonderful dinner. Just before we had finished i looked out and saw a set of black walk past ???. I thought it looked a little familiar so i went out and went to have a look. Not really to my surprise (as i thought it was him that i had seen), it was Elijah Wood, the guy who plays Frodo in the Lord of the Rings. I introduced myself and was pleasantly surprised when i found he was a really really nice guy. He asked what i was doing there and noticed that i was from Australia. We ended up talking for about ten minutes. He was a really nice fella. He is, however, really small. Just like the movie. But really personable and kind. Unfortunately, and this sorta ruins the credibility of the story, but i didnt have my camera with me, so i couldnt take a photo, but mum and dad were there, so ask them! After that we went to the Hotel in the square to listen to a really good jazz band and have cocktails (as we did every day!) We went that night again the the Charles' Bridge to just walk and talk and be there. We followed that by seeing the Lenon wall, which was really interesting, and then a few more small things i want to see. It a nice way to end my time in easily my favourite city in the world. It blew me away. Paz |
