Willkommen!
    Pascal Herington's Rotary Trip
23rd January - Weekend! (German for 'hit the pub')

Just a short one, as i am off to the maturaball - which is much like the formals we have in Australia. Only here they only hold them in their last year of school, hence the name, and everyone in town is invited. There is usually at least one ball in town every weekend that everyone is invited to. This one is for a local school.

But everything is still as good as it was, i have bought some german text books and it is coming along very well. I have branched out from 'kennst du Arnie', and now know almost all his lines in German, such as: 'Ich bin zurck' - 'I'll be back!' - Haha, thought youd all like that one!

One thing about school is that it is so similar. I discovered today, that they too have a nipple cripple whilst when i stop game, and between lessons their is almost always a fleishberg (translates to meat mountain!), which is just really a soft form of stacks on. Although they didnt take too kindly to me calling them soft!!!

The food here is more and more interesting by the minute. Yesterday we had leberknudelsuppen, liver dumpling soup. It was awesome! The main meal is lunch, which actually makes a lot of sense, as i you then work that food off in the arvo, dinner here is very small, more like a supper. Again i think it makes a lot of sense. I think i have drunk Mr. Dilmah out of his tea reserves though - juice is not very big over here, although today we had freshly squeezed blood orange juice which was fantastic! But we drink tea with every meal - without fail. It is very strange, though, in Australia meal times are usually quite set, as in you have lunch at 1 and dinner at 7. Here, they are fit around your lifestyle, for example, you could have lunch at 11 or at 3, and dinner at 6 or 11 at night.  But im getting used to it, slowly!

Tonight should be great fun, ill let you know in the morning exactly what it was like.

Paz.
