22nd June - Nothing like Family

As i mentioned in my last entry my parents were coming and not much else was important, i was really looking forward to them coming and that was really i was thinking about.

Well on the 21st - THEY CAME!

It was so exciting talking to them on the phone and giving them direction into Graz, it meant that they were really coming, and i was really going to see them. I had been speaking to them over the Eurotour, but it was not the same, it felt like i was talking to them and they were still back in oz, but now, i knew they were coming. It was the best feeling. I gave dad directions and call me when he found somewhere he could stop and give us a street name. They did that and waited there.

On the way to meeting them we managed to translate the street name that dad had given us from Peter into German, and finally worked out where they were. We told them to wait there. We stopped around the corner, and i sprinted around the corner to find them waiting in the street. It was the best sight id seen all year. I mean i had seen them already in Avignon, but this was not just for 2 hours, i was going with them. Ive never been happier. I threw mum into my arms, and gave dad a really big long hug, it felt so good to hold them, and have them with me once more, they were coming into my journey now.

We went back to my house and had a drink and then took my parents to where they were staying. They settled in and we returned for dinner at our house. It was really nice to just talk, exchange stories and laugh together, i had been looking forward to this for 6 months. I have never felt closer to them.

The next day we spent looking around Graz, i even saw a lot of things i had not yet seen! We went that evening to the Uranitsches for a drink and it rained harder than i have ever seen, it was incredible! After that, we went that night to the place they were staying for Backhendl, which is suspicious similar to Kentucky Fried Chicken, but dont tell the Austrians that! That was with both families. It was so awesome to introduce mum and dad to the people that had been in my life over the past 6 months, we all got on so well (as i knew we would!) and we chatted and laughed and got to know eachother?? really well, it was the best night.

It was also a funny feeling that all of these people were there, together, competely for me, without me they would not have been brought together. Its not an egotistical thing, but a comforting feeling that that many people will put themselves out for you, and really care for you. It was a nice step in my year.
