| 20th August - The Boys are in Town - part iv We eventually started cooking, and eventually ate. It was good. We spent the rest of that night sitting around and trading stories from school and various memories, as antisocial as that was, it was too much fun. We drank beers for hours and hours on end, and just chilled out and talked. It was really great. Hannes stayed up with us, and Michi too, and we all talked together and laughed. It was a really special time for me. It really made me think how truely lucky i am in my life. I mean i look back on the past couple of months, and its not just the time in Austria, im loving it, but its the family that i have, both here now and the family at home, and then my friends, both those from school, and new friends i have met here, and they can come and visit me, and we can all laugh and talk together. There are some seriously special things in life. Having the blessings that i have is one of them. I couldnt be more lucky with the people i know or the people i am fortunate enough to share a friendship with. There are so many people in the world who can say that, and that is a sad thing, simply for the fact there is no one there to share everything with. I suppose that these couple of months, and in particular these couple of days have shown me what i have in life, and where you have to recognise where youve been dealt a good hand, and use it! The next morning was a late one. I took the two girls and picked up the boys and we all ventured into the city. I planned a big city tour, but i wanted to also include a couple of cultural things. I showed them everything there was to see, then when we were finished, we went and had wrstel in the main square, at one of the sausage stands. That was good fun, then ice cream at the ice cream shop, and then, my favourite, and definately a cultural experience worth remembering, we went in the lift in Graz. The lift is a glass lift that rises out of the ground, and goes, ummm......nowhere. Thats right this glass lift goes about 10 m up and then stays there. Luckily i knew it would impress and facinate the boys (especially Paul!) and this week it was free so we did it about 20 times. Haha. Rixon then made his daily hour long call home, and we went back to mine. We had a big barbie planned for that night. We were all looking forward to it. Hannes bought so much meat that Slovenia isnt eating next week and we had 1000 potatoes and more corn than a stephen king film. But what would a barbie be without a serious backyard cricket game? That was followed by some more olympics, and then eating and talking much like the night before, i loved it. I met the boys the next morning at the youth hostel for a pool comp before they left, which turned into such a spirited comp that they missed their train and we played for another 2 hours. Haha. It was good to see them, they are top mates, and i was so glad i could introduce them to what i have here. It was a top week. Paz |
