| 20th August - The Boys are in Town - part iii The next morning, I managed to convince the boys to actually work up the energy to go into town and have a look around. It was a hard task but we got there. The place we were staying in was within walking distance from the ring so that was ok. We spent the whole daying looking around and i showed them as much as i could. It was good fun. It was certainly different to the sightseeing i did with my parents though! But we saw heaps and i showed the fellas a little of the culture that i had been experiencing this year. It was really interesting to talk to all of them about their different experiences and so, we have all had such different years, and this was a sign that i had gone in completely a different direction. Not a bad or better thing, just the fact that i could show them around where i had spent part of my life, and speak a different language was an experience i enjoyed. That afternoon we made our way to the train station and we even managed to guide the three lost cases (Paul, Andrew and Harry) onto the right train. That said, we all rocked up at the wrong train station (thanks to me!), but got there in the end. The trip to Graz was also a real laugh. All throughout Europe the boys had snagged a cabin to themselves and if anyone came along they would put on showercaps, and people (and im not blaming them!) usually went away. This time we had no shower caps, but we went into the childrens play room and got the whole thing to ourselves. It was awesome, heaps of room, playing some cards, good stuff. Then a mother walked in. Sat herself down with her baby and todler. That was ok. Then she whipped the baby onto the couch and changed him right next to paul. Paul almost flipped. 'As if harry didnt stink out the cabin enough already!' he said. Haha, the funny thing was that she left straight after. Maybe the shower caps were the go! We finally got there after a lot of laughs and 2 hours of solid cards (by the way, never, ever play cards with Adam Rixon! Not only is he not a good card player, but he cheats, and he ate my bisuits on the train! haha! Good times). We got the bus to mine and i showed the guys into the youth hostel which was really conveniently only about 200m from my house. They settled in, Harry had a shower (thank god!) and i said i would join them later. I went home and then picked up the two friends (the girls who were staying with me) and took them back to mine so they could settle in. I went and got the boys. Michi had prepared a fantastic lunch for them all, but we went and did shopping for the night because we were cooking pasta that night (for 20!). The food was so good for lunch, i think it was the first time that they had actually eaten lunch (or anything besides maggi noodles) in a while, and no, for the last time, beer is not a meal! We spent the rest of that afternoon watching the Olympics, playing backyard cricket and soccer with the two boys (yes there are also two boys who normally live at this house!!!). We played table soccer and had some great laughs. We must have sat around and talked for hours and hours. It was great to see the boys. It was awesome that they could meet my life here though, especially the family which whom i am so blessed to be living with. |
