| 20th August - The Boys are in Town Coming back from Wolfgangsee i didnt really get up to much, it was just the regular holiday sort of stuff, good fun all the same though. We played a little more minigolf (by this stage i was a local celebrity at this place!), and basically did all the holiday things. I caught up with a lot of my Graz friends which was also good fun. But there was a serious plan on the agenda. I had got a message from Louise from Newcastle a few months prior talking about coming to stay with me, which i was excited about. She lives in Linz, and it would be good to see her, she is a good friend, and a muso, so we understand eachother. That plan was settled. They i got a call from the boys in England who said that they were coming. I had no idea when or who was coming, but was looking forward to seeing them all the same. Using the Riverview efficiency and time management that we all learnt, they rang me at the start of the week saying they would be in Vienna on the Thursday, and they needed a place to stay in Graz. I looked around and found a spot, but still no idea who was coming or how many. Wednesday rolls around and i say i will meet them at the train station in Vienna. I booked for 7 in Graz hoping that was the right number. I arrived at the Southern trainstation and headed the West to meet them. I walked in and there they were. Now they said they had been travelling for a little bit and weren't looking the best, but all the same, when i saw this bunch of homeless misfits, i was seriously surprised. Jack was seriously worse for ware. But the one of i loved was Harry, whose Amish style beard just gave the whole group a whole a Cat Stevens/Hippy vibe that was unmistakable synonymous with a bunch of poor travellers. But i didnt see Harry until the day after i met Sam, Jack, Adam, and Reardo, i will explain that later. It was so good to see them though. Of course not having a plan we took some information at the trainstation and headed off to the local youth hostels. Finding nothing we had to head off to the place that was given to us by a dodgy guy at the trainstation, which we were all feeling a little sketchy about, especially seeing as the place was called the 'Happy Hostel - for Happy good times!'. But we headed there and found that it was an apartment with a kitchen and cable tv - very important as the olympics had just started, for 15 euros a night, so we bunked up there. We headed off to pick up Smiley, Paul and Harry at the station, when, on the way, we got a message which said: 'We have decided to take a day trip - to Serbia, hopefully will see you tomorrow. Yeah right, but we were hopeful to see them the next day. That night we went and did a huge shop, and then i cooked the boys a good austrian meal of sauerkraut, heaps of sausages (wrstel), and semmel (really top bread rolls), with tatos and other stuff. The problem was that we thought the other boys were actually coming, which meant that we had enough food to feed the British army, but after downing each about 10 sausages each, we sat down for a night of beers, olympics and catching up, it was seriously good to see the mates again. |
