18th September - Schools IN for umm, Spring

Yes, ok that was a lame attempt at a good joke, sorry Alice Cooper. Anyways, the last 2 days of the holiday were spent not getting up to much, it was nice to once more draw out as much relaxation and down time out of the holidays as i could, i knew it would be all systems go once school started again.

The first day back was cool. It was really like any other first day back at school. ??It was so good to see my friends ???again. Michi ??gave me a thing that looked like a wizards hat that was a present for the first day at school. Usually its only for the very first day at school, but it was nice to get something typical that kids here would get. It is filled with lollies and stuff. When i saw my friends it was incredible how different things were. It wasnt that i had changed or that they had. The difference was simply that i could speak german!

It wasnt that last school year my german was that bad, it was just not good enough to talk without problems and hesitation. This year things came so much more naturally. And it wasnt as though i had learnt anything in the holidays, completely the opposite i had really learnt nothing, it was just that i had only spoken german, and always practised, giving the words time to settle and find their place. Instead of having to think for a word it was immediately there, it was so nice. I am a person that loves to talk to people, and without that the world seems so much more difficult to live in.

It was so interesting coming back to school, something just clicked. I had got on with my friends well last year, but this year, we really understood eachother well. They would invite me out all the time, and we would go and do stuff. I could finally follow the whole conversation, make jokes, and talk about anything. It was the first signal that i was starting to become fluent in another language. The language aside however, i was simply so happy that i finally had really good friends. Now, renaud especially, before you start, its not as though i didnt have friends last year, i did, but i was more of a responsibility, and this year i was really a part of everything, people were asking me for my opinion, asking for advice, and everything else. I could meet new people and really have things to talk to them about. It was incredible the difference that the language brought. I had been having a great, fantastic time before i could really speak well, now i have never been happier in my entire life.
