15th August - Ein Bisschen Kultur - part iii

The next few days, the weather wasnt great, and we saw a lot of rain, but all the same we had a great time.

The next day we went into the town on the other side of the lake. A lot of people went for a walk, but i wasnt really up for it in the rain, so i opted out, and went for the touristy option. It turned out to be great fun. We met, completely by chance, Michi's brother, and what did we do? Thats right, ten points, went to drink a coffee. But it was a good chance to get out of the rain all the same.

The town we were in was very touristic, but it was interesting to see all the different types of hats and lederhosen and what not, all with a different meaning and worn by different people. The people that come from this region, especially those not from Salzburg the city, and off the land, are very big on culture and tradition, and it is not uncommon to see men walking down the street in lederhosen and the women in dirndl, it is the traditional dress, but still very practical and carried these days.

That night we had a great night. We had the next door neighbours over, and we talked and talk for hours, all 20 or so of us, and it was soon discovered that almost every single person on the table had some kind of relation or link to another, it was so funny to see, all these people, almost family, and yet completely different.

The next day was also spent in the water, and a huge table tennis championship, which means Hannes beating me repeatedly, as i say 'ok just once more, i swear i can win this time'. We had a very traditional lunch of deer with druken fruit, beans and sauerkraut. It was to die for, looking over this wonderful lake, having this glorious meal, with nice people, i couldnt think of anything better.

I was really quite sad to head off that afternoon, i had really enjoyed it there, even in spite of the rain and bad weather, it was really relaxing and enjoyable. I had had a great time.
