11th September - Italy Again!

We spent about a week in Graz in the time that we returned from Coatia and then went off to Venice in normal holiday mode. I tried to get the most relaxation time out of the few days that i had left in my holiday. It was great, the weather was still good, proper summer, even if it was a little colder than at home, but all the same, it was really good to get out and to play tennis, soccer and everything else that we could do outside. We played minigolf once more, and being some of the last weeks that i would be living at the Greimers (it seemed as though i had only just moved in there and now i was going again!) Michi, Hannes and I went out often together. We went mostly to a local pub called Cohibar (yes a play on the Cigar) and drank Caiparihnas and Mojitos. It was great fun, they are really good people. You meet people in your life that you know you are blessed to have there, these are such people.

But on the Thursday night Hannes, Michi and I set off once more for Italy. We had been invited by the arts council in Graz (with whom Michi has a strong connection) to come and see the Biennale. This is one of the most respected and popular arts festivals in the world. It comprises of many different parts, art, music, film, and architechture. We were going to see the architechture section. I was really looking forward to it, a bit of culture, and one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Does it get any better?

We left on the Thursday, and drove almost to Venice, we stayed that night just outside, about 20 minutes from venice, which was great fun. We went out to a very popular and seemingly good italian local (we knew it had to be good because it was the loudest and had only italians there!). We had awesome pizzas, pasta and drank proper italian wine. Italian wine is something i have really gotten in to. Unlike home, the table wine, especially red, is very light and easy to drink, and i really like it with pasta. Anyways, im sounding like dad.

The next morning we set off and parked the car on the first island in Venice, we then caught the Venetro (i think thats how you spell it) - ok ferry, into the centre. We checked in at the hotel, left the stuff there and set off. It was so awesome to be back in Venice, it is such a magical city! I love it.

It took me a few  minutes to realise that i was actually back in this city, something i had dreamed of since the last time i was there. I couldnt imagine anything more incredible. This place is one of a kind, there is nothing else like it all over the world. I must come back here again.
