11th July - Some Old Faces

Hung around with mum and dad and renaud and ali the next morning. We did some more sights. In mums eyes that was mainly shopping. Dad spent some more time in the office. It was their last day there so we talked about what they were going to do. They were not sure so i came up with a travel plan. I sent them to Amsterdam then on to Brugge. They were thinking Paris, but i had told them, done it once, done it a thousand times! Haha.

They and i went that afternoon to Yum Cha in Chinatown, once more, i loved it! From there we went to have a look through the West end and then into Soho, again. It is so much fun. We went through Carnaby St which is now too touristy, but good to see all the same. We organised to see the Hogans that night at a pub in Notting Hill. The Hogans are the family from a friend of mine, Dom, who i went to school with and is working in the Uk, Brad Howard was also with them, so i would catch up with him at the same time, that was good, we are all good mates, and that would be good fun.

We met at the pub and straight from the word go it was good fun. We are good friends and we had so much to catch up on. We talked and talked and talked. It was fun to sit around and recount stories from school and laugh at how much we have changed and how much we havent. There were so many old stories that came out, and it was interesting to talk about current issues with people who we understand well. That is one downside about travelling so much, you meet so many people, you hardly get to know them really really well, which means seeing old friends is always good. We were all a little sad when the evening had to come to a close.

Mum and dad were off the next morning, and Ali and Renaud were continuing on to Germany, so they were off as well. For that reason, i had organised to see the Hogans, Dom and Brad that day, we were going to cruise around ourselves. I met with them around Notting Hill, and they asked if i wanted to go and see a show that night. It is a must in London that someone goes and sees a show in the west end. They had heard that the Queen musical was good so we went and bought 2 extra tickets (as a friend of Doms - Ruth was coming too) and? went from there to have a look around the city. London is a city you feel something in. I love it. We went further up from the West End, a part i hadnt yet seen, and ended up having coffee for hours. We went to Buckingham Palace and Westminster Abbey, a place that had special significance for me, as i had only just read the Da Vinci Code, a really good book, i found at least.

I went home and we reunited later that afternoon to go out to the Arsenal stadium, as the Hogans are mad keen gunners fans. It was really cool to see the metal tunnel that separates the home and away fans after a match in the train station. That is somewhere i seriously would not want to be. We had a quick dinner and then looked forward to the show!
