n our Language and Cultural Centre "WORLD AT OUR HOME" there is the English Cultural Centre which has been existing for seventeen years already. It was the first English Language Centre in Rezekne.
At first, in 1985, we began with groups for adults only, then in two years, in 1987, we organized the groups for small children, teenagers and students. Some of them were for beginners, to give them the opportunity to study and learn English, but some of them were for advantaged pupils and students, to provide people with opportunity to enrich their knowledge, abilities and practical skills in English. These lessons and work with citizens of Rezekne were very successful during that time and they are also very successful now.
A lot of people from Rezekne and Rezekne region come to our Centre to learn English, to know something new about different countries and their organizations, to get some help in writing letters and documents in English.
THE GOAL
It was founded in 1985 for the purpose to give all the people of Rezekne and Rezekne region the opportunity to learn the English language, to know English and American literature, to get some information about English speaking countries and European culture.
Our aim is to develop public education in Rezekne.
ENGLISH LESSONS
English Language Center is situated in a big town club in the North part of Rezekne. It is very comfortable for all the people to come to us. Every year we have a lot of people : about 40-50 children and teenagers for English lessons and some more people come to our Centre for parties, meetings and different events.
We organize English lessons for children and teenagers in the afternoon after school from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and for adults in the evening after work, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. every weekday and sometimes at the weekend when they need to. Parties and meetings we have on some Fridays evening and on some Saturdays.
A lot of Rezekne citizens are interested in English and we are happy to help them.
