I'm agnostic/atheist. Serious question: What is left in the world of music that hasnt been done and how can grindcore help music to evolve?
Well i'll start at the end. Grindcore could actually help "standard" styles of music evolve if anyone actually studied it and got a basic understanding of what is trying to be accomplished, there is timing structures that haven't even been though up or documented being played everyday in grindcore, and definately new song structures/timing changes, its just that to anyone who doesn't actually have an interest in the musical genre, it can seem like one big unstructured load of noise as far as whats left to be done, that unfortunatelly remains somewhat in the hands of "progress" A lot of the major changes in msic over the last few decades have come either out of poverty, from the poorest area's with the most culture, and of course capitalisms version of progress will ensure poverty keeps expanding, or it has come from technology, and in a lot of cases both. blues and soul came from the ghetto's, rock and roll came from that punk came from working class suburbs, boredom and nihilism, grunge came from much the same, both with an accent on abrasion as a musical style
hip hop came from the ghetto's, and from the technologies being played around with to make something new, splicing cassette tapes together with glue, or using two turntables to mix beats and make sure the music never stops now we ave cd players, which are allready being used to make trip hop, the art of making the cd jump to mix, and create new sounds, what we have is an opportunity to fuck with the traditional ways of using new technology to create sound. fucking with timing changes and song structure is just one of those ways.

hahaha, if they're all along the lines of "Britany" or " we have a strange fixation with an art punk habit of penning ridiculously long rambling song titles with little or nothing to do with the lyrics contained within affore mentioned tune" I'd say we could probably squeese in about 550-700 or somewhere along those lines I think we've started writing epics thogh now, don't we have a song that goes for like 2 minutes or something?
