| Match Report: A bright sunny day and Partizan rolled up on a losing streak that needed ending if any chance of survival was to occur! Good news though as the famous 'Don' was back in goal after missing the last couple of matches. With the wind heading upfield Carrick decided to kick against the wind in the first half and have advantage second half. This looked a good ploy and Partizan were sent out to hold AC Retros in the first 45 mins. With much of the posession with Partizan, they were looking comfortable and had chances themselves to open the scoring. They even had the ball in the net when a Meado cross was headed from nito the net as McCoid challenged Retros keeper in the air! The referee deamed that McCoid had fouled the keeper much to Partizan's disgust. Retros had two old wily pros up front who looked like they'd been playing in the Wimbledon & Disrtict for 20 years as they thought they knew all the tricks. Their balding striker even had the cheek to push over James when the play was up the other end, surely he would be made to pay later in the day! Retros eventually won a corner and the pitch was starting to cut up after all the wet weather. As the cross came in, it looked to be going straight into Don's hands, only for the 'great one' to slip in the mud and the ball to fly into the open goal! The worst scenario had happened, Partizan were one down after half an hour, now they must hold out til half-time or face an uphill struggle! 1-0. The rest of the half was almost being played out until half-time, when a Partizan goal kick by Don was scuffed across the face of the goal straight to the waiting Retros balding skinhead striker. He did his best to make up for Don's error and miss an open goal, but managed to fire it in off the under side of the bar to give AC Retros a two goal lead going into half time. 2-0. H-T: 2-0. The second half was a struggle for Partizan to get back into the match, but it seemed that one Partizan goal would change the whole reflection of the match and swing the momentum back towards Partizan. Unfortunately it seemed this wasn't going to happen so Carrick decided to make a couple changes. Glenn, a new signing came on for his first Partizan appearance down the left flank and Jesse was brought on for Nick on the right side of midfield. Glenn didn't have much chance to get into the match, only putting some big tackles in when Retros looked like counter-attacking and getting dangerously closer to the Partizan goal. A moment of comedy did happen though as the ball was cleared by Retros, it began periously rolling towards the nearby pond! With Glenn chasing it, he had two choices to choice from, either sprint after the ball, stop it from going in the pond and risk stacking it on the concrete and falling into the pond, perhaps injuring himself in the process, or jog lightly over to the pond, hoping sometihng or someone will stop the ball before in drops into the pond! There was not much choice in the matter and wanting to show his committment to the team!......he chose the second option and got barracked from both teams for it!! The game eventually died out and Partizan realised their fate would be another defeat leaving them periously close to the relegation zone and a season in Division Two. |
