| As a good Host / Hostess, when planning a party, the amount of food and beverages can be quite tricky to plan. From experience, this can be one BIG headache!! Below are a few guidelines to help you with this task. (These totals are approximate and intended as guestimates only) |
| Rectangular Sheet Cakes... 1/4 Sheet cake (8" x 12") will result in 16 servings if cut into 2" x 3" pieces. You can spread this a little further, into 24 servings if each piece is cut into 2" x 2" squares. 1/2 Sheet (12" x 16") will serve 32 if cut into 2" x 3" slices. For 48 servings, each slice should be cut into 2" x 2" squares. Full Sheet (16" x 24") will result in 64 servings if cut into 2" x 3" pieces. To spread the servings further, each serving should be cut into 2" x 2" pieces, which should result into 96 servings. |
| 8" Round Cakes... As a general rule, wether the cake is double or single layered, this type of cake should make about 8 servings. |
| Ice Cream... In the summer and for kid's parties, this is a must have menu item! 1/2 Gallon of ice cream will feed approximately 16 - 4 oz. servings 1 Gallon will feed approximately 32 - 4 oz. servings |
| Beverages... The following serving guideline can be used for both hot and cold drinks. 1 Gallon of either hot or cold beverage will make about... 8 - 16 oz. servings ... for 16 - 8 oz. servings ... or for 21 - 6 oz. servings |
| Appetizers... The following are guide lines needed for a party of 8. If your party is larger, add or mulitply accordingly. Sliced or cubed Deli Meats: 1 1/2 lb. = 8 - 3 oz. servings Cheeses: 3/4 lb = 8 - 1 1/2 oz servings Chips: 2 oz. per person = 1 lb for 8 guests Dip: 1 oz. per person = 8 oz. per 8 guests Breads/ Rolls: 3 slices per person = 24 slices per 8 guests |
