Wassup? Oh really!
2day'z the day i show you how to stop the destruction of ozone!
Ozone Depletion:
Cfc's break down into ClO(g). ClO (g) reacts with O3 (g) to produce Cl (g) and 2O2 (g). Then the Cl (g) reacts with the O3 (g) to produce ClO (g)and O2 (g).
To simplify this it looks like this.
2ClO+2O3=Cl2+4O2
Cl2 +2O3=2ClO+ 2O2
Now the ClO and the Cfc's in the air are in an eqilibrium. If you add more Cfc's you get more ClO, and visa versa. So if you add chlorine gas to the air, Cl2, in the desired areas the amount of cfc's increases and the amount of the ClO will reduce. This drives the reaction to the reactants, the left. There is problems to this "radical" ideal thought. This wouldn't create ozone, but it would increase oxygen levels. That in turn drives the oxygen-ozone equlibrium to the products level (more ozone).
"toilet bowl" effect:
northern/southern poles recieve this effect. East-west winds create a barrier that prevents mixing of the stratospheric gasses. What does that mean? More concenteration of chlorine and ice. A new effect to ozone depletion is ice. Ice is just another catalyst just like Cl molecules. With the toilet bowl effect is PSC's (polar stratospheric clouds). CO2 in large quanties rasies the troposphere about 5k, this in turn lowers O3 levels.

only you can stop O3 destruction
Facts not Myths
Fact:
Ozone is an unstable form of oxygen
Ozone is created and destroied by ultraviolet rays (UV rays)
Ozone is a blue-green gas
Ozone when inhaled will become a toxin

Myth:
Ozone protects the earth from UV rays. Ozone just dissolves in UV rays. This causes UV rays to loose thier energy and disipate or turn to a blue wave of visible light. This is why the sky is blue!
Ozone come from the air and UV rays. Cars and Cumbustion gives oxygen enough energy to create ozone. That is why we have ozone action days.
Once you loose ozone it's gone, ozone is another isotropic form of oxygen, and oxygen oxydates in the presence of UV rays. Also oxygen and ozone levels are in equilbrium.

R-161 CH3CFH2 This is a florine based refridgerant!
R-170 CH3CH3 This is a hydrocarbon, also known as Ethane!
Most freons break down into the ionized gas ClO (hypochlorite ion), we call it ionized gas because it makes water conduct electricity! If the freon has no chlorine in it, then it dosen't have the capibility of producing ClO. Also, if you read carefully, CO2 cause ozone delpetion, but CO2 causes the temperature to rise 5 kelvins (same in C degrees). Thus it lowers the ice levels (slightly lowering the delpetion levels). In Europe today, they use Methane or Ethane (r-10, r-170) but the problem with that is when the compressor (the thing that compresses the gas so it becomes a liquid) fails the unit explodes.
