Couteau has agrees to help Bennett set up a sting to catch a renegade indian who is wanted for
the murder of Constable Jerome Barton Of the N.W.M.P.

Couteau tells the renegades about a shipment of rifles in Bordertown. He will help to steal them.

When Clive returns to town, the Commissioner is waiting. They tell Jack about the plan. He thinks
it will cause trouble for Bordertown. The commissioner tells him "This is our concern marshal,
don't trouble yourself."
The trap goes as planned, with Jack's help of course. The indians are ambushed in the coachbarn.
One is killed, one escapes, and Two Moons is arrested and charged with the murder of Constable
Barton.
Jack tells the commish that "There ain't no safe way
to transport Two Moons to Fort McLeod for trial."
The commish tells Jack the trial will be held in town
and the marshal is in charge of fortifying the town against indian raids.
Two Moons tells Bennett that he has brought death to Bordertown.
The commissioner has trouble getting together a jury. Everyone is afraid. Jack volunteers, but
he can't sit on a "Canadian" jury. Marie volunteers, the others follow out of embarrassment.
Three members of the renegades attend the trial to make
sure it is fair.
Clive must defend Two Moons.
Jack can't understand why Clive would defend Two
Moons. Clive tells him: "My obligation to my uniform
is greater than my obligation to Barton. Two Moons must have a fair trial."
The commissioner reads letters of praise from Chief Lone Wolf and Chief Grey Cloud. Constable
Barton is credited with organizing food convoys to the Cree and Blackfoot people in the winter
Two Moons pleads self defense, says Barton was a murder and "took" their women.

Gabriel Couteau testifies that Two moons had been accused of stealing horses. Barton went after
him and never returned.
Couteau found him later, tied to a tree with three bullets in his back.
Two moons calls Couteau a traitor and pulls a knife on
him. The renegades overpower Two Moons, saying
he has brought shame to his people.
Two Moons continued...
Two Moons is found guilty of murder and is sentenced to hang.
