| Ancient Claims |
| Henry Jordan and Mr. Dewalt are still having a land dispute (see Skirmishes), corporal Bennett |
| goes to the Jordan ranch to talk to him. While he is there, the ranch house becomes |
| surrounded by indians, They are trapped inside. |
| Marshal Craddock is transporting a prisoner back to town when he is confronted by a group of |
| indians. They insist he remove the white man from their land. |
| Marie reads the land documents to Jack. She tells him the indian leaders signed the land over to |
| the government. |
| "They didn't have much choice now did they?... |
| ...either sign it or die." |
| Dom tells Jack that the corporal rode out to the Jordan ranch and he wants Jack to keep an eye |
| on things while he is away. |
| Craddock tells Dom to round up the men and "have 'em meet me in the street in 5 minutes." |
| Meanwhile-back at the ranch: Elizabeth Jordan arrives on the stage, she hasn't seen her family in |
| six months. She is met by the indians and they tie her to a tree. Clive rescues her and takes her |
| Marie thinks she is going with Jack. |
| "What in tarnation do you think yer doin'? You stay here! Dom, keep an eye on 'er...put 'er |
| Jack and his men arrive at the Jordan ranch. They watch as the indians surround the house with |
| hay. Clive knows they will be burned alive, he tells the Jordan's it's best to surrender. |
| inside. |
| As the marshal watches Bennett, he tells the men to hold their fire. Someone shoots anyway. |
| Although he sympathizes with Wild Eagle (played by Gordon Tootoosis), Jack knows he must |
| act or Clive and the Jordan's will die. |
| "Let them go Wild Eagle!" |
| "No! We will kill them!" |
| "Then every one of you will die! Jordan bought this land from the government, you ain't got no |
| claim." |
| Wild Eagle: "Our claim is an ancient one." Jack tells him there are more hunting grounds to the |
| Wild eagle: "That land belongs to the Kootenay, so we will fight and one of our tribes will |
| starve." Reluctantly the indians leave. |

| "What took you so long Jack?" |
| "It ain't right Clive." |
| "I know, but you did what you had to." |
| "It still ain't right." |

| Mrs. Jordan thanks marshal Craddock for saving their lives. She wonders if there will be more |
| trouble. Jack grins and tells her "I'll be checkin' in on ya fer the next few days." |
| "What do ya suppose a woman like that see's in a man like Jordan, Clive?" |
| Back in town: |
| Jack tells him there are more hunting grounds to the west. |
