Aarthi, my daughter

Hello, friend,

Thanks, my friend, for staying with me on my life's journey.

Aarthi, my daughter was born on Sunday, the 12th August, 1984 in the Divisional Railway Hospital at Vadodara. Her birth star is Avittam and her star sign according to the Western system is Virgo. The three names given to her were Gayatri, Alamelu and Aarthi.

Aarthi attended Lower KG in Shreyas, Vadodara. After I was transferred to BARC, Mumbai in 1987, she did her upper KG and First Standard at DAE Central School, Anushakthi Nagar, Mumbai. When I was transferred to KVIC in 1990, I had to shift my residence to Juhu (JVPD). So she did her Second to Sixth standards at Cosmopolitan Education Society (Barfiwallah School) in Versova. When my deputation in KVIC was over and I returned to Western Railway in 1995, I shifted my residence to Badhwar Park, Colaba. So Aarthi changed over to St. Josephs' High school, Colaba for her Seventh to Tenth standards. She liked this school a lot and had good friends. She stood first in her school and won prizes. She joined Junior College (11th and 12th Standards) at St. Xaviers', Mumbai. She came out with flying colours in her Twelfth examinations also and won a prize for standing first in Chemistry the college.

She did not want to follow the crowd by joining engineering college for further education. She wanted to specialise in Design or Journalism. After finding out about Srishti School of Design, Bangalore, she appeared in the Entrance Test and got selected. She is currently in the second year of her 5-Year course on Communication Design and seems to be enjoying her course thoroughly. We talk to her at least twice a week.

Aarthi has contributed article/story to the family Newsletter which can be seen by clicking here.

Aarthi has a phenomenal memory and can repeat dialogues from films ('Chupke, Chupke' is her favourite) and books (Tintin, especially). She likes R.K.Narayan, J.Krishnamoorthy and many other authors. In fact she spends more on books than dresses. Her only failing is that she does not speak in Tamil.

Hope you enjoy your journey with me.

Thanks & Regards,

If you Think You Can, You Can!

An Inspirational Poem by By Denis Waitley

You can be a total winner even if you're a beginner,
If you think you can, you can,
If you think you can, you can,
You can wear the gold medallion,
You can ride your own black stallion,
If you think you can, you can,
If you think you can, you can,

It's not your talent or the gift at birth,
It's not your bank book that determines worth,
And it isn't in the color of your skin,
It's your attitude that lets you win,
You can upset Connors or Austin,
Or win the marathon at Boston,
If you think you can, you can,
If you think you can, you can,

You can profit through inflation,
You can redirect this nation,
If you think you can, you can,
If you think you can, you can,

It doesn't matter if you've won before,
It makes no difference what's the half time score,
It's never over until the final gun,
So keep on trying and you'll find you've won,
You grab your dream and then believe it,
Go out and work and you'll achieve it,
If you think you can, you can,
If you think you can, you can!
