WHAT ARE YOU THANKFUL FOR?

For the past two years I have been the Facilitator for the local Stroke and Survivors Support Group. This past Thursday the group had their Thanksgiving Dinner at a local restaurant. One of the members suggested that we take turns, each expressing what they were the most thankful for. This has spurred my thinking about what I am the most thankful for in preparing for this devotional.

I am thankful for the little things we all take so for granted. I am thankful for the sunrises and sunsets. I am thankful for the birds that sing outside my bedroom window each morning, and for the squirrels that fuss at me as I take my morning stroll in the park. I am thankful for the gentle breeze that makes the rustling of the leaves as I walk under the trees, for the soft white clouds that float silently across the blue skies

Also, I am thankful for the farmer and rancher and horticulturists and herbalists that keeps the stores supplied with vegetables, fruit and meet and the health food stores with herbs for the healing of our bodies.

Let us be thankful for comfort and companionship, friendships and under-standing, for care and provision. Thankful, too, that God supplies for our small needs as well as the big ones.

Since we love God, we should tell Him so and thank Him for his matchless love and that He provided for our salvation to save us from our sins and eternal damnation to hell. We should be thankful for those who dedicate their lives telling others about the love of Jesus and yes, for the one, whom Jesus used to bring us to a saving knowledge of Jesus and His love.

We should thank Him for love, care and guidance, food, clothing and home. I thank Him for the Bible and religious freedom, for our nation, our Founding Fathers and those who go to battle to fight and die for our freedom. We thank Him for water, air and sunshine, grass, trees and birds. Let us be thankful for family, friends, health, strength, wisdom and all our animal friends, both wild and domestic.

God cares for all our needs and He wants us to ask Him for the things we need. While we are being thankful and talking to God, we should especially pray for those who are unkind to us.

I am thankful that I can strive to walk in His Footstep and ask others to join me in this walk through this life that will lead to greater things as we cross Jordan to one day be welcomed by Him with outstretched arms.
