Keeter
| Keeter
came to us early in 1995 or late in 1994 and was intended to be the mate
to a nice looking parakeet that we had been keeping all by herself for a
few months. She was a very nippy little bird and we felt getting him might
just settle her down. Unfortunately it didn’t happen, in fact she ruled
the roost and would attack him when ever she felt like it. He was very mild mannered and never tried to nip or bite when we handled him, though he never got over his aversion to being handled. He did learn all the songs of the big birds, the cockatiels and performed them better than anyone tho at a lower volume and a much faster song. We had really fallen for this great little personality and we felt he was relieved when his pseudo mate finally passed on and he was left in relative peace and could almost pass himself off for another cockatiel. However the years did pass and he had gotten into ripe old age for a parakeet, who we usually expect to not live past 3 yrs with all their succumbing to liver problems and other ailments. Finally this morning Poor Keeter has passed on, putting up a good show to his last day and I know he must have been 8 or 9 yrs old and feeling every year by now. Fly to the bridge Keeter and meet Duke and someday we will meet again. Cary
