Cha Cha

We first met Cha Cha about 27 years ago.  She belonged to a young couple who needed money and wanted to sell her.  She'd been on many adventures with them and continued to with us.

We took her camping and we took her on road trips staying at hotels.  She loved to sit on the balconies and whistle at people below.

One of her favorite things to do was ride in the van between us and search and yell for hawks.  Even when she was at her sickest on way to vet she looked up and in a very quavery voice yelled "hawk, hawk".

She stayed outside, weather permitting, on our deck during summers days talking to the birds.

She loved the cats and dogs.  And loved life in general.  She was always healthy until the end.

Most birds would have not lived as long as she did at the end.  She just wasn't ready.  She fought hard and long to stay with us but finally went quietly on April 14, 2004.

We still miss her.  I've caught myself taking fruit to her empty cage.

She will always be in our hearts.
