We lost one of our birds this evening. Her name is Annie and has been a special part of our lives. She was a rescue from a physically abused home. She was plucked naked on her belly from the neck down... I think that’s what made her a little more special. Andrea has had her 4 or 5 years and she has told me I am the only other person besides her who had ever handled Annie. She was not very social with other people we guess cause of the abuse. She had a very great vocabulary. I don't know how many words she said but had heard her talk for 30 minutes and never repeat herself.

    I was cleaning the floors so they would not be in bad shape for Andrea and  I had to move Annie’s cage. I moved it the first time about 3 feet when I had to move it again just a few more inches. I guess I startled her and she fell off her favorite perch at the top.  She has done this many times slipping and falling an we thought nothing of it at first for about 5 seconds till Annie stayed laying on her back. Andrea was home and told me I broke her still not too concerned thinking she was playing. Andrea picked her up out of the cage and her breath became much labored. That’s when the panic set in. Any ways Annie died in my arms just a few minutes later. I can not explain the hurt in my heart right now for this. I know Andrea is hurting deeply also. I guess I am beating myself up over this one. Andrea loved that bird a whole lot. Just about every night we would snuggle on the couch with Annie an she would make us smile an laugh as she filled our hearts with love an made us realize how special we are to have such incredible birds. She had such an impact on our lives and is going to be greatly missed. If everyone doesn’t mind please say a prayer tonight for Andrea and Annie
