| At the present, Parri continues her studies with master dancers from the Middle East, Europe, South America, Canada, and America whenever possible. Parri is a spirited dancer and choreographer in the art of belly dance - Oreintal and American Cabaret - Persian dance and Afro-belly. She created and developed a dance form known as, "New World Gypsy", and has studied Persian dancing in the U. S. and Iran. Parri is director and choreographer for troupe Raks Assaya and for Kekuja's dancers, formerly known as Troupe Taban. Kekuja's dancers are an Afro-belly troupe that has teamed up with the West African band "Kekuja". Parri has been involved in Middle Eastern Dance for 13 years, her love for the arts has encouraged her to study may dance forms. Her studies include two forms of belly dance: Oreintal and Tribal, Persian, African and Flamenco. She also has studied Middle Eastern drum, tambourine, and figure cymbals with Mary Ellen Donald. Dancing is only one of Parri's creative talents; she is a teacher of Middle Eastern dance and is a costume designer, who has created lovely one-of-a-kind costumes for herself, her associates, and many other dancers. Her love for the arts is reflected in her personal background and studies. She holds a degree in Commercial Art, a license in Cosmetology, is a licensed Realtor, and at the moment is studying Political Science focusing in International Relations. As a professional dancer Parri has captivated audiences with her many styles of dance, which are as authentic, unique and creative as she. Her performances are enjoyed in restaurants in Northern and Southern California. She has danced in many local corporations, for non-profit organizations, in schools from K-12, and in local universities. Parri has held the positions of co-director for "Aabelli Dance Ensemble", director and choreographer for "Afro-belly and Belly Dance", and co-producer for "Apeer Productions", which produced, sponsored, and coordinated Middle Eastern dance events. She has received positive feedback from the dance community and public for the work she has accomplished. Today, Parri is the director of "Aparri Belly Dance by Parri". Parri is a MECDA member, and has served on the board of MECDA, San Francisco Bay Area Chapter for two years. During her first year in office Parri was treasurer, and in her second term she was vice-president. Currently, she is focus on editing and distributing her instructional sword DVD. |
