| Full heats, Lost Tempers and Short Trousers!!!! | ||||||||
| Welcome to the Carpet Thrashnall 2005!!!! Firstly I feel I must apologise for the lateness of this report, however i do have a genuine good reason. For those of you that take the time to scan central european news articles, you will know that a junior member of the Swiss royal family took it upon themselves to go to a fancy dress party dressed as me. Needless to say this has lead to a besiegement of my private life by the Pepperami, and as a result i have had to stay out of media limelight. But i am back once more, as the afore mentioned swiss royal has sat back down on his 'Toblethrone' and carried on adjusting the timing on his cookoo clock, using only a file and some long nose pliers. With round 3 only being 9 days after new year, party animal Peter Emery was still drunk, high and imprisoned from the proceeding, and so was forced to call in sick. This then meant 2 things. Firstly as the number dropped from 21 to 20, and that Cliff was going to get a final (dont be a muppet all you life, thats a final not in the A final). Secondly, to save 32 minites, Fabbers dropped the 3rd Tamiya heat and re-shuffled everyone into 2 heats of 10. The layout of the track was fairly tight and technical, but with all the 27 and 19 turn stock classes also running without problems with 10 car heats should be easy considering the standard of competition in the Tamiya class. Not the case, as it seemed as the competition increase the standard of driving decrease, and the only chance of anyone getting a clean run was to pack there kit up, and go use a treadmill in the on-site gym. So how did the members of this website faire during the demolition derby. Well, TQ and win went to the NSX of Simon Knight, giving himself a real 'leg up' in the championship. He managed to come out of top of a small group of front runners in qualifying, making the start of the race no tall order, as he enjoyed the short run to turn 1.Not going to mention the drilling done, as it was no worse than most and I dont have all day to list all the 'action' In contrast to Simon's large points haul, Barry suffered a miserable final. Already languishing in a low position, a untimely drill pushed him over the barriers, pointing the wrong direction further back in the lap than he already was. Choosing to wait to be marshalled on the apex of the fastest corner on the track instead of driving round the 2 corners again, his stationary TT01 is slammed into by one car, while the seemingly dead car was whipped away from a 2nd chassis breaking collision. Shouts from the pit area revealed that the car was in fact still working, however with the time lost, Barry completed the lap and pulled into the pits to a disappointing 10th. Not content with that, someone decided to add a slow hand clap to Barry's misery. A little unfair i feel. Unlucky Alf finally got rid of his Speedo gremlins, and managed to finish his first final of the series. However it would appear that you manage to shake off bad luck it doesnt go too far away, as Sully picked up electric problems of his own, which was most likely caused by pitting next to Bob. Resulting in a DNF of only a few more laps than Barry in 9th, only 3 places ahead of Bob with his series best 12th. As for Champion elect Rob, due to contractual restrictions all i can say is that you should buy next months RRCi to find out how he did. Not sure which page it will be, but if you look at the contents pages under 'Regulars', There will be a section called 'Lets all bow down and praise Rob'. All the attention of the Rob reports has not gone unnoticed at Racer, Sparking Mr Winter to find his own driver to document throughout the season. Having already chosen his sponsored superstar all that now remains is to find a translator for Zomerzet into English so that he can quote directly from Cliff himself. |
