Samurai Deeper Kyo I started watchin this anime on a whim...cause "Kenshin" told me to watch it, so I downloaded it from him, and I kept hearin things about how kick-butt it was, so of course I continued to watch ^_^ I found out that I did like it, the characters were fun, especially Benitora! That guy's a hoot ^_^ Then my friends decided to cosplay as Kyo(shiro) and Benitora from SDK, and I'm like "Hey. Yuya is fun, she's got long blonde hair, and her costume is just a shortened kimono. I'm all about kimonos!" and I decided to add to their group ^_^ Mostly, its just cause I'm a costuming addict and I'm making a costume from every new anime I've seen since I got to college. Heh. ^_^;; I made the base kimono out of the Butterick kimono pattern (same one I used for Kaoru) and just chopped it into a top and a skirt. Light blue bias tape was used for the edging along the band of the kimono top, and a swishy kind of neon greenish fabric was used for the obi, because I couldn't find the right color in cotton anywhere! That was really frustrating. This fabric was really flimsy, so there's interfacing all over ^^ I just kinda fudged my way through the box bow on the back, and I probably should've taken a picture of the back of it, but I didn't ^^; It looks decent enough ^^ Leftover yello cotton from my Kaoru kimono was used for the hexagonal details she has on her top and sleeves -- 2 layers were Wonder-Undered together, then the shape was wonder-undered to the kimono. The black lines were ribbon that was then hand-stitched on both to provide the detail and to keep the edges of the yellow hexagons down. Those took forever ^^;; But they turned out nicely ^_^ Pink ribbon for the hair, those weird wooden shoes, and I'm set! I'm no propster, so I just grabbed a cap gun from Walmart before leaving and that was Yuya's gun....yea, its really very terribly wrong, but its what I had ^^;;
