Tarta and Tatra of Chizeta!
Well the story with this one, is that I first saw this pic well, somewhere, and I thought Tatra (on the right) had a cool costume, and I was lookin at it, and I thought "sure, I could do that, just a top, some harem pants and sleeve dealies!" But then I decided, I first needed more reference pics than that one, and I couldn't find any! >_< But luckily, my friend's friend had the whole Rayearth 2 series dubbed (shudder) on VHS, so I watched as much of that as I could (all the Rayearth chicas in a bath talking about their breast size was a biiit too much...) but after I watched some, and read all the manga, it was pretty clear that Tatra had a personality close to mine! ("Look, Tarta, it went 'fwip!'" "It went 'FWIP' to our DJINNS!" "But isn't it cute!" etc., etc.!) So I drew an overall reference
pic, and got to work!
I think this will be intended for AnimeIowa '03...if I finish it...and get rid of this summer fat...~_~
But as far as progress...well, I've put on what Ive made of the costume and swished around a bit...and decided I definitely need a bigger chest. Ugg. Right -_-
1. Summer of '02
I found some satin fabric that I thought was just about the right shade of orange...I wanted it darker like my reference pic in the intro paragraph, but alas, no satin that color -_- So I got the ligher shade, and decided first to work on her top, seeing as I have a pattern for it, and all the supplies. So I go about making that, and everything went well, actually! I'm having some trouble with the clasps on the back, but I always suck at sewing those in, so maybe I'll just use velcro or something!
2. After the top, '02
So the top's not really finished, but time for the "skirt" if you will! I wanted to use the cape pattern from my Deedlit cape for her skirt, but that pattern's kinda crazy, so I just used a general vampire cape pattern. Then, I realized it really wouldn't look too good with the seams showing on the inside, so I bought another 3 or 4 yards of it. Then, I had to go to college, so that was the end of that for awhile!
3. January 31, 2003 Well, here I am in college! And I was bored today...so I fished out my bag of crumpled Tatra costume pieces, ironed out alllll that satin, and got to work again!! I made the cape/skirt lining, but when I went to sew it to the outer part...it didnt line up so well...not to mention, theres like no room at all in a dorm room! So...I hung up all that fabric (being wise, and not wanting to spend another hour ironing it later) and I'll take it home on a weekend to finish...or just leave till the summer, since she doesn't need to be done till August!! ^_^ 4. March 9, 2003 Yaaaay, Lauren and I go to Branden's house this weekend to try on costumes, and guess what? That sweet teddy bear of a guy (hehe) got me a Rayearth pencil board with Tarta and Tatra on it cause he knew I was doin the costume. Wai wai! That was so cool! Its actually some of the image I have as a background, that I thought was so pretty! Very happy day, Branden's so awesome!
