Peacekeeper Commando
Farscape
This costume came about as a request from Jason (Amon in previous pics). When I first saw the designs, I thought they were awesomely cool, but there was no way in heck that I could make something like that! I was on the verge of telling him no (just a click of the return key away, actually) but then he persuaded me, and I just couldn't say no ^^; So I said I'd try. *lol* So I got a bunch of reference pics, found a tutorial on karlsweb.com, and got started seeing if I could actually take on this behemoth ^^; I decided to do a test one out of cheapo fabric first, so I got some batiste in really pretty blue and purple pastel colors, just cause peacekeepers are SO not pretty and pastely ^__^ Amazingly enough, the test jacket actually worked! Surprised the pants off of me...so I set out and bought vinyl, heavy duty needles, and lots of pillow cording stuff and black thread, and got to work! Of course I screwed up a few times and had to backtrack and stuff, but it all actually came out easier than I had expected. (not counting the times I had wanted to chuck my sewing machine out the window >_< )Then, once I had his done, I realized that there was enough vinyl left that I could make one for myself, too... So I did ^^ This one took only 4 days though (including school and work), since I had some notion of what I was doing now. Hooray! Then, I unexpectedly got to go to Comic-Con in San Diego, where Jason was planning on wearing his, so we kinda wore them on Friday (just the jackets). But no pictures from then, sadness! Thats ok though...we werent really in full costume ^^;; But we were for Wizard World in Chicago! Wooooo!!! That was a grand old time, and we were absorbed into the anime cosplay competition cause one of the people running it thought we were awesome, and besides, theres a rumor Farscape might be made into an anime ^^;;; We had no clue what to do for a skit thing, being totally unprepared, so the sound guy recommended some techno-y music from Bubblegum Crisis 2040, and we got up and acted all cool to that ^^ It was actually pretty fun. Everything was pretty low-key, only about 20 costumers, so we all hung out and chatted in the green room before everyone got on. Then, what happened as a major surprise to me, we won second place in the expert division! ^^; I totally couldn't believe it. These costumes that I never thought I could take on actually happened and won an award on top of that! Who'd have thought? Here's my first run: Jason's Peacekeeper Jacket While at WizardWorld, we got to meet and talk with Lani Tupu (what a name!) aka Pilot and Crais! Yaaaaay! Later we found a cool wall in the hotel And finally, the cool fountain thing outside ^_^ I then wore my Peacekeeper to Anime Reactor in October, just cause its cool, and ended up entering and earning a judges choice in the masquerade too! Another thing I was totally not expecting, and my first award for just me singularly, with a costume I made myself (besides Jason's pulse pistols and accessories, of course ^^). I've never been so excited in my life! XD So I was quite out of character, running and glomping people and smiling up a storm *lol* No pics from this one though, except a few bad fansview ones...so thats ok ^^;; Thanks for looking!
