The Busy Signals / Baby's First Beats
It's a mildly energetic and very nice pop album. all at a pretty slow pace.
sometimes the main vocals get kind of wan. But I find it interesting, and
i'd like to see what happens to this howard w hamilton III guy as things
proceed. plus he used to be a roadie for babes in toyland. (is the internet
for real?) i rec playlist or newbin. laurab
1. cc- headphone world 3:06 pretty simple pop, but rather nice really.
2. cc- i'm so slippery 2:10 really cool female voice mixed from beginning.
slow paced.
3. cc birds on high 2:19 again, female vocal background. again, nice.
4. c+ clogged airways 3:04 not much to say about this one, kind of dull.
5. cc- futon hopper 3:05 looper esque, really nice.
6. cc- 88's and 73's 1:39 we're all flower children at heart. the internet
says "it's the kind of hip-hop melodic pop that has made Beck a household
name."
7. c+ low on the foodchain 1:51 nice little thing, but, meh
8. c taxidermy 1:53 bop bop. kind of annoying.
9. c+ stormy stormy stormy 1:42 neat flute. 'underacheivers please try
harder'-- nah.
10. cc- long funnel 2:21 starts out great, stays the same, same tunes and
such, but it's still pretty good I think.
11. c constantly awesome 2:41 repetitive in the way pop sometimes is,
unfortunately
12. cc- show me your gems 2:12 starts with a little western twang, "this
is the wild wild midwest"
13. c ladies and germs 2:27 airy.
You Can't Help Liking / P.P. Roy
apparently I can help it... land of the loops esque, but rather more
repetitive. does find cool sounds that other artists haven't beat to death.
but, the more I listen to it, the more I feel like no matter how obscure
the sounds are, the songs aren't necessarily good. i recommend swill.
laurab
1. c introduction 1:22 many many different quotes and voice clips
2. cc- in at the beep end 2:54 kind of spastic. fun bell sounding beeps
3. c+ like, wow!? 3:48 has a major switch which is interesting, but
switches to blah and ruins the song
4. cc- love can turn around 2:36 cool frolicking high notes, flute and
piano? and definitely I can hear space invaders guns in there.
5. cc- a taste of tarmac 2:33 surfy with some crazy clicks and meeps and
trumpet
6. c just say "yeah" 1:16 repetitive
7 c- just keep telling me what to do 3:53 no one can use female orgasms
like cornershop can, so don't try
8 c radio too 1:13 weird chipmunk-like voice and pure sinusoidal shtuffs
9 cc- theme from ezpz 3:55 theres a lots of stuff here. voice and other
stuffs and buzzing electricity mixed with a pretty nice rhythm.
10 c+ back to 78 0:55 did he mean back to 38? phonograph / grandpa music
with bubbly noises
11 c pleasure circuits 3:37 neat meepy meeps but outrageously repetitive
underlying groove.
12 cc- gondwanaland or bust 3:46 various world musical instruments, voices
and sounds
13 c- chicken interlude :14 spoken but doesn't say anything. hm.
14 c i did what i did for me 3:27 strings, piano, same thing over and over
and over
15 c- until tomorrow 3:06 ack. enuf of dis... the review ends here.
