Diet Dangers

Describe the diet, its advantages and disadvantages. How does one participate in the diet? What is the general idea behind it? Include in your presentation information about how the diet works in the body, whether it is effective long-term, what problems may result for a person who stays on the diet, what are the attractions of the diet, and a sample menu of the diet. (Source list must include a minimum of 6 sources.)

High Protein Diet/ Low Carbohydrate Diet (such as Atkins, The Zone)

Liquid Diet (Meal supplement such as Slimfast)

Grapefruit Diet

Dietary Supplement Pills (such as Metabolife or Dexatrim)

The Subway Diet

Structured Program Diets (Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, etc.)

Hospital Diets (such as those for cardiac patients)

Prescription Drug Diets (such as xenical, meridia, etc.)

Remember: NOT everything on the internet you read is true!! Beware your sources. Sites that are trying to sell something may skew their statistics. Personal sites may be posted by people who are untrained. Remember the value of MANY sources!!

Each person must be ACTIVELY involved in the preparation and presentation. Evidence of participation in preparation: equal parts of documentation handwritten by each member. Each member must play an active (though not necessarily speaking) role in the presentation.

 Vitamins and Minerals

Create an advertising campaign with a videotaped commercial or a billboard and educational brochure about your vitamin and mineral. Your advertising campaign should inform both plants and animals how the vitamin and mineral are important to its functioning. What are the symptoms of a deficiency?  What happens if too much is present?
