Materials: 7 Cookies (4 cookies split in half and one extra half)
Colored sprinkles
Procedure:
1. Divide your cookies in half.
2. Start with interphase. Use a pinch of sprinkles to illustrate the chromatin.
3. Illustrate prophase by doubling the chromosomes. Use three chromatids.
4. Line up the chromatids in the center during metaphase.
5. During anaphase the duplicate chromosomes move to opposite poles.
6. When the chromosomes reach the poles, telophase begins.
7. Illustrate the 2 daughter cells to look exactly like the original cell.
8. Raise your hand when you have finished to have your teacher check. _______ TI
9. If correct, you may now eat them! If not, your teacher may eat them!

2. What is the hereditary material in the cell and where is it located?
3. What food products did you use to represent the hereditary material?
4. What events occur during interphase before mitosis begins?
