| Marsha lives in Spring Valley, just east of San Diego. After graduating from the U of M, during which she studied in Germany for a year, she and Brian went to Munich where he worked on an MA. The following years were spent in Livonia, Tucson (teaching and MA at the U of A for her), Pasadena (M.Div. for him), Dixon (small town between San Francisco and Sacramento), Pasadena again, and then, after twelve moves in 10 years, they came to the San Diego area, where they have lived in the same house for nearly 20 years. For the past eleven years, she has been teaching high school (German, English, Math, ESL and, more recently computers). This year she changed positions and became a Library Technician at a local high school to get away from the long hours and evening work and to try to have a life again. She and Brian own Adams Avenue Bookstore in San Diego, a used and antiquarian bookstore, which he has built from small beginnings and now includes internet sales. A few years ago they bought and restored the building. Marsha works from home, doing the accounting, payroll and tax paperwork and does much of the computer work. They have two children, Angi, born in 1971, who is married and has two sons, 5 and 2½ and a daughter born in Feb. 2002, and Tim, who will be graduating from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo this June. Being a grandparent is very nice--and certainly a lot less work than being a parent. When there is time, she likes to do quilting, work in the garden and do "computer stuff." |
