I retired April 30 after working for the Jackson District Library for 12 years. Paul retired three years ago from City Bank of Jackson after 35 years of employment with them. We travel up north frequently to a wonderful, quiet lake where his aunt has a cottage. The lake has resident eagles, loons, even bear. We love to fish and watch the wildlife. I take the camera with me in the boat and sometimes I am too busy taking photos to fish! Two years ago I sold two of my eagle photos! We are currently searching for our own cottage so we can spend the entire summers there. We have found a great winter vacation place on an island on the Texas Gulf Coast and went for a month this year. Paul loves Arizona and I tried it last year but it doesn’t have much water (duh!) And being a Pisces and loving the water, I was not that enchanted with it so he humored me and let me try the Gulf Coast. We are going for two months next winter. The older we get, the less we like Michigan winters.

I still love to garden, swim, read, and spend time with my friends, and of course, talk! Now that I am retired, I have more time for all of my hobbies. I’ve become one of the people who has caught the Stamping Frenzy and make all of my own greeting cards and attend classes. Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it. It’s a great creative and relaxing hobby!

My children are off on their own now. Matthew (30) is an executive chef in Pontiac. Mark (27) is an attorney in Saginaw and Elizabeth is a Teacher’s Assistant for pre-primary impaired children in Battle Creek, working for the Intermediate School District there and attending WMU for her degree in Special Education. She also works with a child doing respite care eight hours a week. I am very proud of all of them.
