| The old saying that life begins at forty was
off by ten years for me. Life changed dramatically at 50! Lordy it doesn't seem like we
are all that old or older. About the only thing that has stayed the same is I'm still
married to the same guy. June 24 will make 34 years. Donald and I are both retired now.
General Motors closed the Kalamazoo, MI plant in December of 1999. Said they would pay us
to leave and send a check every month to our account. Not a hard decision to make. The new millennium began by us selling, moving, and downsizing. I am now thirty miles north of Marquette, MI, when not traveling around the country. Since we are do-it-yourself kind of people, that meant another building project. We spent six months in primitive small quarters while finishing building our current home. (I think I'm getting too old for this!) We have our own waterfall, and wildlife abounds. If you like snow, and hate muggy hot summers it is terrific. Lake Superior is about a mile down the road, and the view out our window is Lake Independence with the Huron Mountains in the background. Sunsets in life and reality are wonderful. If anyone is up this way on vacation, or if others have moved north contact me. We can have a reunion in DA UP yah! |
