| I think it was 10
years ago when I last attempted to tell my classmates about my life. What was I thinking? I have been living in my home in San Francisco with my partner for 18 years in what you might call an alternative lifestyle. We are fortunate to own a detached single-family home in a great neighborhood. Three years ago, we purchased retirement property in the northern part of the Sacramento Valley in California. The land has many, many mature blue-oak trees, a few cottonwood trees, and manzanita bushes situated on rolling grassland with two seasonal creeks. Its like the Wild West with lots of wild life that cant be found in the city: black-tail deer, bobcats, coyotes, wild turkeys, badgers and quail. Our neighbors have horses, mules, miniature donkeys, cattle, sheep, guinea hens, a turkey, dogs and cats. The temperature ranges from a low 34 degrees in winter (no snow) to 110 degrees in the summer (dry heat). I work as a management consultant. My current working assignment is at the corporate headquarters of McKessonHBOC in the financial district of San Francisco. Challenges of the year: growing my hair long, getting in shape, maintaining two residences and trying to live happily. |
