| Thirty-five years ago, all of us who graduated
from Parkside High School left with the hopes of changing the world. After all, we were
the class of 66! After graduation I was off to Western Michigan University. I returned
home a few short years later (where we still reside) to find a job not a career.
Instead, I started in the industrial pipe industry (as a truck driver). Now, over 30 years
later, Im the inside sales manager for Satterlund Supply Company in Warren, MI, the
largest industrial stainless steel pipe supplier in the tri-state area. Other changes came with a New Years Eve party Clay Carroll and Mary Chmielewski threw. There I met my wife of 27 years, Julie. Now, going from single to married is a BIG change, but along with Julie came three small children all under four years of age (whom I adopted the first year we were married). My life changed from summers at the lake to coaching little league and backyard swims, from snowmobiling in Northern Michigan to pulling a sled back up Cascade Hill. Yes, we, the class of 66, made many changes in the world among my most valuable contributions are three wonderful young adults: Ben (31), who served in yet another war -- hard for us here at home to understand (Desert Storm) -- and who returned home to work in the building industry in Ann Arbor (he can build anything); a beautiful daughter, Jessica (30), whom I gave away in marriage just over seven years ago (still no grandchildren theyre much too busy with their new company, Apple Electric); and last, but not least, my son Paul (29), who we hope will marry soon and make us grandparents. Paul works as a plant maintenance manager in Chelsea (he can fix anything). Julie and I are looking forward to another 27-plus years and watching our children grow and make their own contributions to the world to come. Looking forward to seeing old friends. |
