So it has been 9 months in the military and only 4 men from our squad have lost

their lives. Surprisingly out of the 4 recruits, none of us has died so far. Some of the

men have taken some bullet wounds, but nothing that is life threatening.
Thomas has become very nervous over the past couple of months. He can no longer
sleep at night and is always on the look out for a surprise attack. He also has panic

attacks quite often. We think all this warfare is going to his head and he needs some

medical attention.

Freddy on the other hand, has become a lot more laid back. He is now talking to

people and kind of just goes with the flow. He is not scared of dying because he has

nothing to look forward to. He told us that back at home he lives with his dad and

works on a farm 12 hours a day every day.

The battles we have been fought in have been quite simple. The Russians do not

really know what they are doing and are running around like a chicken with its head

chopped off. Most of the Russians dont even have guns to fight with so it makes it a

lot easier to fight them off. We hear that Russia is having some internal problems so we
might get shipped off to France. The rumor is that Lenin has returned from isolation

and is planning to take over the government.

I received a letter from my mom the other day. She said things are well back at

home. Apparently no real sign of the war has hit home except for the occasional plane

flying over head every once in awhile. It is good to hear that the great land of Germany

may soon be restored to the top position in the world like the Kaiser had promised us.
