The ACTS of the Apostles 3

Read Acts 3:1-10

1)      How do you feel about the homeless and destitute on the streets of Victoria? How should we, as Christians, react to them? Does the opening part of this passage of scripture help us?

2)      Why were the apostles going to the temple? (3:1)

3)      Has anyone you know received God’s healing? How did you and the church respond to it? What did it do for your faith and the faith of the congregation?

4)      When people saw that the lame man was walking they were ‘filled with wonder and amazement’ (3:10). Being filled with wonder and amazement does not make a person a Christian. What did Peter do following the healing (3:12)? Discuss.

5)      What can we learn from the first part of Peter’s address to the people (3:12) with regards to our own ministry (everyone is involved in some kind of ministry)?

6)      In verse 13 Peter gives four names to God. Why did he do this? What is the significance of God being God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and ‘your ancestors’?

7)      What is the significance of Jesus’ name in the healing of the lame man? (3:16)

8)      How did Moses and the prophets predict the coming of Jesus? (3:22-23). See Deut 18:15.

9)      How did Peter offer hope to his audience in spite of his warnings? (3:24-26).

10)  How can a knowledge of the Old Testament help us understand Christ?
