The ACTS of the Apostles 17
Read Acts 14:1-7
In Iconium
1. In Iconium, where did the apostles begin telling others about Christ? (14:1) Why?
2. How was the city divided? (14:4)
3. What happens to the church when a congregation divides its loyalties among leaders?
4. How can you and others in your church support your ministerial staff?
5. Should you still support them if you do not agree with them on a certain issue? Discuss.
6. The apostles fled when they heard of a threat of persecution (v6). When should we flee from persecution and when should we endure it? Discuss.
Read 14: 8-20
In Lystra and Derbe
7. How did the crowd respond to what Paul had done? Why were the apostles horrified?
8. Paul was speaking to Gentiles rather than Jews (14:15-17). How did he tailor his message to this audience? (Note how different it is to when he is talking to Jews).
9. What can we learn from this when it comes to sharing the gospel with different people from different backgrounds?
10. When have you received credit or recognition you didn’t deserve?
11. Why is it important to give glory to God? (for you, for the one you’re witnessing to and for the worldwide church of Jesus Christ?)
