The ACTS of the Apostles
14
Read Acts
11:1-18
1. Since we
have not met together for a few weeks, take a couple of moments to discuss
Peter’s vision and some of the things that came up in the last study. What was
it’s meaning? How might Peter have felt? Why was it difficult for him? etc..
2. When Peter
went to Jerusalem, who criticized him? (11:2) Who exactly were these people?
3. Why did the
circumcised believers imply that it was wrong for him to eat with Gentiles?
4. How did Peter dispel the idea that Gentiles
were second-class citizens? (11:15-17)
5. Why do you
think Peter told the whole story behind his actions?
6. In what ways
do we need to be less like the “circumcised believers” in our approach to
others?
7. What
principle of accepting others do you want to copy from Peter’s example?
8. How can you
open your heart and mind to others whom you tend to dislike?
Acts 11:19-30
9. To whom was
the news about Christ being told? (11:19)
10. How did the
church in Jerusalem respond to the increase in numbers of new believers?
(11:22)
11. Why did
Barnabas go to Tarsus to look for Saul? (11:25-26)
12. If you were more like Barnabas, how might
people respond to you differently from the way they do now?
13. Following the example of the early church,
how should we help other Christians who face economic hardship?
