The ACTS of the Apostles 10

Read Acts 8:9-25

1. How did the people of Samaria react to Simon’s sorcery? (8:9-11) How should Christians discern what is of God and what is not? (remember last week’s discussion on signs and wonders).

2. Why did Peter and John leave Jerusalem and go to Samaria? (8:14)

3. In what ways do people try to “buy” God’s favour?

4. What does it mean to have your heart right before God? This is not something easily measured, so how do we know if our heart is right before God?

5. Most Samaritans and Jews didn’t get along; why then did early Jewish Christians tell Samaritans about Christ? (8:25)

Read Acts 8:26-40

6. Why do you think the eunuch was on his way to Jerusalem to worship? (8:27)

7. Why do you think some parts of the Bible are difficult for us to understand?

8. When have you felt led by the Holy Spirit to speak to someone or pray with someone?

9. Most of the people we witness to are non-Jewish so we do not have to try to explain portions of Isaiah to them. How then do we approach sharing the gospel? Should we use the Jewish “roots” of Christianity when describing the gospel to “Gentiles”?
