is the Parka Kings' live album. I'll tell you that it did what it
was supposed to do...it made me wish I was at their last show. I was
looking forward to seeing this band at the 1997 New England Ska Festival
but they cancelled for some reason which was a big disappointment.
Anyway, back to the CD. This CD captures the live experience of the
Parka Kings and makes me want to get up and start to dance...but i'll
finish with the review. This CD covers close to 70 minutes of Parka
Kings craziness with live versions off "Bienvenidos" and
"23 Skidoo". I'm just disappointed that this show was out
in Detroit. The insert has a nice blurb written by their drummer,
Tony B about how much the band (referred to as a family) meant and
all. What I like about this is that you can capture the sound of the
band without being a generic live bootleg type CD. The quality is
great but you can actually here the crowd singing along and cheering...and
it doesn't cover up the music. If you ever liked the Parka Kings or
are into poppy ska (no punk!) check out this CD and imagine that you're
at their show. |
