The only true luxury "palace" hotel on the Left Bank in Paris.  It is a very fashionable place to be (I ate next to the actor Dabney Coleman in the restaurant) and has been remodeled by Sonia Rykiel in a Art Nouveau style.  The rooms are beautifully decorated and very comfortable.  I stayed in a bedroom that also had a sitting area and a bathroom in clean, white marble from floor to ceiling.  The staff is wonderful and very helpful; they cater to your every need and are very willing to answer questions and help you during your stay.  Breakfast is served in a large room with a great buffet.  The location offers quick access to the Metro station at Sevres-Babyone (across the street), a five minute walk to boulevard St. Germain, and one block away is the Bon Marche, a department store, that has absolutely everything from home goods to a very extensive supermarket.

Hotel St.-Andre-des-Arts
66 rue St.-Andre-des-Arts 75006
Metro: Odeon
Tel: 43 26 96 16
Rooms: 34 (28 w/ bath)
This small and friendly hotel is located on a narrow street just of the boulevard St. Germain.  A bustling nightlife, lots of shops, restaurants, and cafes are just minutes away.  It attracts many young travelers, models, and artists.  There are exposed wooden beams throughout and the bedrooms are scattered along labrinthian hallways and winding stairscases.  The prices for rooms at this hotel are hard to believe considering it is one block from the boulevard St. Germain and from the daily market on the rue de Seine.  The staff is very accomidating and friendly and the rooms themselves are great: nothing extravigant, but simple and comfortable.  My room even had a view of the Eiffel Tower.

Hotel Residence des Arts
14 rue Git-le-Coeur 75006
Tel: 55 42 71 11
Fax: 55 42 71 00
This hotel has single roooms, but also many suites and apartments to hold upwards of six people at very reasonable prices one block from the Seine and the Ile de la Cite.
I am going to stay here this summer!
