The Paris Guide

Airport information

Before dicussing the airports in France, we must understand what to dohere in the States prior to leaving.  Choosing what time to fly is an important decision because it would be best to limit jet lag.  Paris is four hours ahead of New York and Boston, and seven ahead of Los Angeles.  The best time to depart from the US is in the evening.  The flight time plus thetime change forward will result in the flight arriving in Paris the next morning.  If you are able to sleep on planes this works out great.  I was so excited I couldn’t sleep at all.  Luckily my adrenaline carried me through the entire next day and I never felt the effects of jet lag.

Coming home is another story because the flight time and time change combined result in only a slight time change. Thus, even though you flyfor hours and hours, the relative time is about the same. Good luck and I can only recommend picking whatever time you would prefer.

In Paris there are two major airports: Charles de Gaulle and Orly.

Charles de Gaulle (Roissy)
Charles de Gaulle (Roissy) is the main airport for Paris and the largest. It is 19 miles north of the city and has two main terminals: CDG1 and CDG2. Air France is the main airlines at this airport along with other domestic and European airlines, such as British Airways.

Orly Airport
Orly is also a large airport, and is located 9 miles south of the city. There are two terminals: Orly Sud and Orly Ouest. Orly serves most of theinternational flights including American, United, and Delta Airlines from the States.
