A few years before the XXI century, in Paris ( a city that didn't change
except the underground trains that became red, a comet in the sky, near the Earth
and a mortal ache, the STBO, that is transmitted by certain touches ) a young
orphan accept to make a stealing for a man and a woman in exchange of a great sum.
He wants to escape by everything, by his girlfriend too; he meets another woman, falls in
love. At the end he will be betrayed.
The Mauvais Sang story is just an "installation" used by Carax for a
cinematographic rappresentation with rare intensity. The take machine does not domain,
the matter is fulfilled with expressive richness, sweeping movements. The background like
a dream, a nightmare, fear, emotion. This pure, total cinema invades immagination,
creates feelings, invents time and space. Carax shows to be a real talent; plays
with lights, shadows, colors faces, places, carrying out a rare ambiguity.
Mauvais Sang is a futurible film, a kind of theorem about the possibilities
of cinema, after a crisis that seemed to be absolute, after a death too soon decreed.
Inside there's the fascination if the image, with its movement, its form, its
artificiality, its mistery, its transgression over the visible.
