PARBUSTERS 2009 SEASON
Welcome to another season of Parbusters Golf League
 Key Notes for 2009:
Scoring- A total of 3 points are at stake each week. 1 point each for head to head match play which means who ever wins the most holes in the round gets the point. The third point is for total team strokes (with handicaps). Ties are of course points. Please note that the maximum strokes per hole is double par plus 1 which equates to a 7 on a par 3, 9 on a par 4, and 11 on a par 5. As discussed at the last years meeting, there is no difference between a Pick up score and a True score, but note: this rule is only to speed up play, if the two opponents agree to play out the hole in a tie situation, then thats fine.
Handicap - Individual handicaps will be determined by a rolling 5 weeks with dropping the high and low scores. Those of us who played in the league last year will start with the handicap we ended with last year. If you are new to the league, your handicap will be established by your first round, whether it be the practice round or the first week of league play. For subs that are new and have not played in the league, their handicap will be established based on their first round in the league. The rule is:  you must establish in our league. Handicaps will be 80% of strokes over par. There will be a list of subs with handicaps posted. If they played last year, they will be on the list and their handicap will be posted and new subs will be added as required.
ScoreCards - They need to be filled out correctly and Points calculated and written on the card.  If no points have been calculated and put on the card for each team, then No points will be awarded to either team. This is your responsibility. I'd like to see team numbers with points taken - it's that simple. If you want to initial it, that's fine with me but not mandatory. Please put your full names in the name box. Hand the cards in to Dave Mack, Tom Seary, or the bartender before you leave the course each week. It of course is your responsibility to get the cards in.
Unable to complete 9 holes - If you are unable to finish because of darkness or weather, the match is done after 5 holes completed.  Still calculate the scores and points for the holes completed and do not fill in the un-played holes.  In this case your score will not be used toward your handicap.  Less than 5 holes completed, then match cards the following week or play a makeup game prior to the next league night.
Makeups - If neither member shows up and the opponents have not been contacted, all 3 points are taken by the opponents. If you make prior arrangements with the opponents, a match can be made up within 1 week and I must have the card by the following week. Matching cards the following week is OK if both teams agree. If you turn in a card that is a make-up, write make-up on the card in large letters. If I don't receive a card by the next league night, both teams get zero points.
Substitutes - If you can't get a sub we will use the "ghost" sub again. This sub will bogie every hole and have a 5 handicap. For example, if the opponent playing against the "ghost" has a 14 handicap, then the opponent will get 9 strokes and would play the round as any other round. This system gives a slight advantage to the golfer who shows up, as it should be. If you shoot your handicap, you should win. This also gives the person who is playing against the "ghost" a better incentive to focus and play every hole as if they had an opponent playing along. If you use this "ghost" sub, just write SUB on the card.
Banquet - A banquet is held immediately following the seaon ending tournament.  The date for this tournament & banquet is September 12th and there will be sign-up sheets later in the season.
Position round - The position round will be September 2nd.  This is not only important for the leaders but every team should try to participate to make it an exciting night.
Dues -Dues this year will be $35 which basically pays for the banquet and prizes. If you haven't payed yet, please try to pay by the first week of regular play. If possible one check per team is preferred, make check payable to Dave Mackr or cash is fine.
Cancellations - If the weather is stormy, call the Proshop and speak to Charley. If he says we can play, we will play - period.
(phone # 336-2685). I don't cancel play, so you don't need to call me, only the golf course can cancel play.
Bulletin Board - Please take the time to read it every week. The schedule and leader board will be posted here. Also a list of subs, league notifications, sign-ups and anything else that comes to mind will be posted here.
SKINS - Cost to get in $1, it's not a requirement to get in the skins, but if you want to, you must pay and sign the sheet prior to playing golf.
